North American SCR Stakeholders Debut Planned DEF Dispensing Equipment, Bulk and Packaged Retail Supplies of DEF to meet 2010 Emissions Reduction Standards

Greensboro, NC, March 2009 - As part of the nationwide, cross-functional industry effort to increase fuel efficiency and reduce harmful emissions, leading truck and engine manufacturers, diesel exhaust fluid producers, fuel retailers, automotive distributors and dispensing equipment suppliers are joining forces to debut elements of the DEF infrastructure that will support the rollout of Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology in 2010.

SCR is the first emissions technology that is as good for business as it is for the environment, and the only emissions control solution proven to meet the 2010 emissions control standards set by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) - the most stringent in the world. Extensive testing by truck and engine manufacturers show SCR provides up to five percent in a fuel economy advantage and results in increased uptime due to the need for fewer active regenerations of the engine.

Select members of the North American SCR Stakeholder Group and FactsAboutSCR.com will use SCR-equipped vehicles, DEF dispensing and storage equipment, as well as supplies of bulk and packaged DEF to show trucking companies and drivers attending the show the simplicity and availability they can expect.

In addition, the Department of Energy National Renewable Energy Laboratory Office of Alternative Fuels and Vehicle Technologies will debut its web-based DEF locator - an online tool like the tool produced for the introduction of Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel Fuel which will let drivers know options for DEF supplies across the country beginning in January 2010.
